Kevin Tse (HKG) and his season-long teammate Maximilian Goetz (GER) successfully completed Round 4 of the British GT Championship at Donington Park last weekend. It was an extremely challenging weekend for both drivers and the team as the 3-hour race faced some of the worst British weather conditions. Despite the multiple adversities, the duo that started the event in P4 after an impressive qualifying performance, managed to finish P7 and take some valuable points. Gathering momentum in the championship, the Hong Kong driver is looking to get on the podium for the first time this season as he prepares to take on the only flyaway race on the calendar at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium from the 21st to the 23rd of June.
The duo started the weekend extremely strong as Tse and Goetz were right up at the sharp end of the timings during the build-up to the race. The duo clocked impressive lap times during both parts of qualifying, which secured them a combined time which was good enough for a P4 start on Sunday. The 3-hour race started under the Safety Car given extremely dangerous track conditions, however, the race officially got the green flag a few minutes in as Tse climbed to the lead of the race by the end of his opening stint. Goetz got into the car about 30 minutes into the stint and continued on until the skies opened up again and all teams were forced to go back to wet tires. The race had to be red-flagged as the weather got worse, which was unfortunate as the team made a pit stop and ended up losing ground to those who got a free stop due to the stoppage.
Tse and Goetz battled hard for the remainder of the race, fighting valiantly to make up positions. Eventually the duo came home in P7 as late contact slowed the progress for the team. Despite the challenges, Tse has shown strong resilience this season as he faces the struggle of battling with the overall grid this year. The pair scored 9 points with this top-10 finish, moving up to P12 in the standing at the half-way stage of the championship. The Hong Kong driver will be searching for a strong result in Spa and put up a championship challenge towards the closing stages of the season. All races will be live streamed via the official GT World YouTube channel and the British GT website.
