Gerrard Xie Set to Ignite the Track in 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship Debut

Chinese racing talent Gerrard Xie is gearing up for his debut in the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship this weekend at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia. Racing with the Hitech TGR team, Xie will compete in the season opener as part of the Australian Grand Prix weekend, taking on some of the world’s most promising young drivers in his pursuit to reach Formula 1.

After an intense winter of preparation, including rigorous testing and training, Xie is ready to take on the challenges of Formula 3. The 5.303 km Albert Park Circuit will present a steep learning curve, as Xie only has one practice session, one qualifying round, a 20 laps sprint race, and a 23 laps feature race to get up to speed. However, Xie’s determination and adaptability have been key strengths throughout his career, and he is focused on making the most of this opportunity.

This season, Xie will drive the all-new 2025 Formula 3 race car by Dallara Automobili, which features updated aerodynamics and enhanced safety standards. The 18-year-old has already had the chance to familiarize himself with the car during testing sessions in Barcelona earlier this year, building on his experience with the previous generation Formula 3 car in late 2024.

Xie’s journey to Formula 3 has been marked by consistent success. Hailing from China’s Greater Bay Area, he first made a name for himself in karting before dominating the 2022 Chinese Formula 4 Championship, where he claimed the title with an impressive 13 race wins. His move abroad to Europe for the GB3 Championship further honed his skills, earning him several victories and podium finishes. Now in 2025, as he steps up to Formula 3, Xie is focused on gaining valuable experience and continuing his progression toward Formula 1.

Fans and supporters can follow Xie’s debut and the rest of the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship through select broadcast channels. This weekend’s races in Melbourne will be a critical first step in what promises to be an exciting season for the young driver.

Gerrard Xie’s Formula 3 journey begins now — be witness as he takes on the fierce global competition as he aims for the top step of the podium.
