- MSI kicks off partnership with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in style at Spa
MSI is delighted to announce a special liveried Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the upcoming Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa scheduled to be held at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps from the 29th of June to the 2nd of July. Entered by Mercedes-AMG Team AKKODIS ASP, the MSI-liveried #87 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be contesting for overall victory in the Pro Cup with an impressive driver line-up of Maximilian Goetz (GER), Thomas Drouet (FRA) and Lorenzo Ferrari (ITA). The world-leading gaming brand is excited to see its partnership with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport and foray into the world of motorsports being kicked off at one of the biggest GT races of the year, set to feature a record grid of more than 70 GT3 cars.
The weekend at Spa will see the striking-looking white and silver MSI Mercedes-AMG GT3 car feature a number of events, including the Track to Town parade, the closely contested Practice and Qualifying sessions and the ultimate test of perseverance and determination at arguably one of the most challenging twice-round-the-clock 24-hour endurance classics. The highly experienced driver line-up of Goetz, Drouet and Ferrari will put their best foot forward to maximize their performance in all the sessions. Complemented by works support from Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing and the use of MSI engineering laptops will help extract the most out of the GT3 car. MSI will also be looking to aid the performance of Mercedes-AMG drivers with products at the Fanatec arena which will host esports rounds during the weekend, with it being the first time that Mercedes-AMG Esports Team MSI will feature on the official stage.
As a leader in the industry, MSI is the most trusted name in gaming and Esports. The global partnership with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, which was officially announced at Computex in Taipei earlier this month, will see the MSI brand logo featured as an Official Partner of the German marquee at major performance events of GT racing across the world. Through this collaboration, MSI is dedicated to expanding the audience of motorsports gaming and racing enthusiasts with high-quality products that define the principles of breakthroughs in design, the pursuit of excellence, and technological innovation.
Sam Chern | MSI Marketing Vice President “MSI and Mercedes-AMG share the same core values and corporate culture, making this strategic alliance a perfect fit. Pushing the limits through innovative technology in gaming and racing is our strong belief. With the support of MSI, we are confident that Mercedes-AMG will lead both gamers and drivers to victory on the racetrack. Through our close collaboration in the 24 Hours of Spa, we wish all drivers to win the championship in this intense competition with their best performance.”
Maximilian Goetz | Driver, #87 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKODIS ASP “For me, the 24 Hours of Spa are the world’s toughest GT3 race. With over 70 cars on the grid, it is a massive competition. You never get a clear lap, you can never relax, and you are always under pressure. When you want to be in contention at the front, you have to push like in qualifying on every lap. Being on the podium already is a massive success. Last year, there was a 1-2 for Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing, we want to repeat that. However, the opposition is super strong as we have already seen during the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. It will not be easy, especially as expectations are very high following our 1-2 last year. We will go there and try to do our best. I hope for a nice and successful weekend, and I look forward to the fans and the atmosphere. I am delighted to be driving this car that represents the new relationship between two major players in the industry MSI and Mercedes-AMG. Watch out for the white dragon on track!”
