- Froggatt and Tse muscle #93 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo to P2 and P3 in Oulton Park
- Sky Tempesta Racing geared up for Silverstone Round 2
The first round of the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship closed its curtains at Oulton Park after two thrilling races featuring some treacherous weather conditions but exciting wheel-to-wheel racing action. Kevin Tse 謝榮鍵 and Chris Froggatt put in a sensational performance alongside the Sky Tempesta Racing team to solidify their championship hopes by scoring a double podium in the first of seven racing rounds. The pair currently sits in P2 of the Silver-Am class drivers championship, 17 points behind the leaders as they prepare for the upcoming Round 2 at the world-famous Silverstone Circuit.
The brand new #93 Sky Tempesta Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo kicked off the weekend strong, showing pace and starting Race 1 on the front row of the 36-car grid. Tse, who started the race, was immediately on the front foot, putting in a solid first stint to hand the car over to his British teammate with the car still in Silver-Am class lead at the halfway mark. Froggatt ran some consistent lap times before the team was penalized with an unforeseen drive-through penalty due to a faulty speed limiter in the pits. This dropped the team to third in class. However, the team kept pushing, eventually finishing in P2 and scoring the first podium of their 2023 campaign.
Froggatt started Race 2 fourth in Silver-Am class under extremely wet and challenging weather conditions. He drove a powerful first stint which elevated the team to P3 in class. The rain stopped and the track dried up as Tse got into the white, pink and blue Sky-liveried McLaren. He showed great progress, getting to grips with the new GT3 machinery and going faster as his confidence increased. The team eventually finished P3 in class and completed the double podium with a near-flawless start to the season.
Tse and Froggatt have started the season with a determined spirit and the team is motivated by the strong result in Round 1. The team is looking forward to putting in a stronger performance and getting on the top step of the podium at the iconic Silverstone Circuit at the second round, which is scheduled to be held on May 6th and 7th 2023. It is a challenging circuit and will be a test for the team. However, Tse is confident to keep the momentum going and deliver yet another impactful performance with the team.

“It was a good performance by the team. I think we had a very good pace. Thanks to this new collaboration with Garage 59, the car is very strong, the team is very strong and everyone is working together really well. Chris and I are also gelling with the car really well after making the switch to this new machinery. We still have some teething issues – some very minor technical issues with the car. In the first race, it was the speed limiter and the in the second race we had issues with the wiper. These are some small issues but unfortunately, they cost us some pace and some results this weekend. But overall, it’s a great start, everyone is working well together. So, we should be looking forward to a lot more success in the coming races.”

I would like to say a big thank you to the team for their support throughout the weekend. We are very much looking forward to May and racing at Silverstone.”
