33R Harmony Racing claimed the overall victory with their “Garfield” Ferrari 296 GT3, marking a historic victory with the driver line-up of Jazeman Jaafar, Jason Loh, David Chen Weian and Luo Kailuo.
The 12-hour battle began under clear skies at 10:15 AM, with the No. 33 Ferrari starting from pole position. Despite the favorable grid spot, Malaysia’s sweltering heat and unpredictable weather—key factors throughout the event—tested driver endurance and strategic precision.
Home hero Jazeman Jaafar set the tone in the opening stint. After fending off early challenges, he capitalised on superior tyre management to extend the lead to nearly 30 seconds, establishing a commanding early advantage.
Luo Kailuo maintained the pace in the second stint, averaging 2:07.962 over 30 laps to hold off charging rivals. Jason Loh then endured peak afternoon heat (35°C) with a conservative strategy, preserving tyres while matching top-tier drivers’ speeds. Team Principal David Chen Weian followed with a steady hour-long drive to keep the car in contention.
Jason faced a setback when a spin dropped the car to third unfortunately, but he recovered to complete his 30-lap duty. Luo Kailuo later closed a 45-second gap to 20 seconds by leveraging cleaner air, while David’s tyre-saving tactics set up a late-race push.
As darkness fell, the No. 33 Ferrari and a Porsche formed a victory-deciding duel. Jazeman overtook the Porsche to regain the lead, while Luo fended off relentless pressure. In the final two hours, Jazeman delivered a blistering 2:05.915 fastest lap, overcoming a 25-second deficit by eliminating the gap with 2 seconds per lap. A decisive pass at Turns 1-2 sealed the victory.
“Still lost for words. One of the toughest races I’ve ever done. Chased from 3rd to the lead with just 15 minutes left. Nothing comes easy, but Alhamdulillah, with the right team, package, strong teammates and the unwavering support of my family and friends, this victory is truly emotional.” said Jazeman
Jazeman crossed the finish line first, completing 328 laps (1,818 km) to secure the overall victory. The team’s joint effort—David, Luo, Jazeman, and Jason —earned them the 2025 Sepang 12 Hours crown.
This win not only adds to 33R’s trophy cabinet but also continues Ferrari’s Sepang legacy. The 328-lap record surpasses the previous mark set by the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 in 2014. The 296 GT3’s maiden Asia-Pacific endurance title marks a new chapter for Ferrari’s new-gen racing machine.
The 12-hour saga exemplified technical excellence, strategic adaptability, and unwavering resolve. 33R Harmony Racing’s flawless execution and comeback spirit capped an epic season opener. As Sepang’s hallowed grounds witness racing history, the champions now set their sights on new frontiers.
