The highly anticipated and revered 24 Hours of Le Mans is all set to be held once again from the 10th to 11th of June 2023 at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France. Motul, which has been a premium partner of the esteemed event for over 60 years, is excited to get underway for what motorsport enthusiasts consider the ultimate test of man and machine. This year’s event is a special one, with the classic endurance race celebrating its 100th year anniversary, nicknamed the “Race of the Century”. For decades, Motul lubricants have played a pivotal role in helping several teams by providing unmatched performance and reliability to conquer the top step of the highly sought after top step of the Le Mans podium.
For the French brand Motul, the 24 Hours of Le Mans represents more than just any other motor race. The event is steeped in history and tradition, with some of the legends of the sport looking for bragging rights here. Motul has remained committed to make this grand event memorable for fans and spectators alike by elevating experiences through many activities throughout the weekend. Fans will have the opportunity to explore the Motul Boutique, brimming with an array of exclusive merchandise and vintage paraphernalia. Additionally, Motul and motorsport enthusiasts will have a chance to experience the thrill of Circuit de la Sarthe firsthand on the Glickenhaus Racing sim. It is a testament to the passion, dedication, and spirit of motorsports—all of which replicate Motul’s key principles—and remains one of the most highly anticipated events on the racing calendar.
Motul is a household name for the 24 Hours of Le Mans paddock, having a long-standing partnership with the organizers, Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO). Last year this partnership culminated to a very unique announcement in which the final corner of the 13.6 km track was renamed to “Virage du Raccordement Motul”. In addition, Motul lubricants, including the flagship 300V allow teams to push to the maximum for the twice round-the-clock endurance spectacle. 2022 podium finishers Glickenhaus Racing has trusted Motul for several years to unleash their 24 Hours of Le Mans challenge. The team will be entering 2 Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) class cars – the #708 and #709 Glickenhaus 007, which will be powering its efforts for overall victory with the help of Motul’s products. Motul’s longtime partner will be going to LMP2 honors in their #28 Oreca 07-Gibson. Motul also be providing essential support to #16 Proton Competition, who will be competing on the Porsche 911 RSR-19 among the several other teams they work closely with in the LM GTE AM class. These collaborations have allowed Motul to develop its expertise in tailoring their oils specifically for high performance cars, gaining valuable insights through testing its products in a real-world environment: the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
A symbiotic partnership with the teams allows Motul to continually learn and adapt its products to meet the unique needs of customers around the world. Teams use the Motul 300V Le Mans, which was also launched at this event in 2021 to help propel their cars to the front of the grid. The brand’s lubricants have survived the test of the unpredictable conditions and relentless racing for years, and will continue to do so in 2023. Motul remains the top choice for drivers and teams seeking maximum engine performance, with racers needing all the help they can get to push their cars to the limit and achieve record-breaking results as they aim to cover the greatest distance possible within a 24-hour time period.
Sam Hignett | HERTZ TEAM JOTA TEAM MANAGER “The Le Mans 24 Hours is the longest, most gruelling race. Not only for the human element but also the mechanical element, and for that we trust in Motul products to lubricate the engine to keep everything running smoothly and get us to the end of the race. That is for both in the engine and the gearbox, as well as all the consumables we use all the way through the end supplied by Motul.”
Camilo Polimeni | Manager, Group Motorsport Sponsorship “The bond between Motul and Le Mans goes back 69 years, and has only grown tighter since. Since 1954, there has always been Motul-powered teams taking part of the most important race in the endurance calendar, and for this 100th anniversary of the race, there’s Motul-powered teams competing in all categories: From the newly revealed partnership with Hertz Team Jota and their Porsche 963, and Glickenhaus in the Hypercar category, United Autosports and Tower Motorsports (amongst others) in the LMP2 category, and the all-female driver line-up of the Iron Dames in the GTE category.
Endurance racing is one of the most grueling motorsports, and is meant to test the limits. At every 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Motul has a mobile laboratory to ensure that all vehicles (running with Motul products, or not) are working perfectly. In return, all data gathered is studied for research and development to ensure the best quality for our day to day users. Beyond the technical prowess that 24 hours of racing entails, the 24 hours of Le Mans is a testimony of what human beings are capable of doing when they dream and work together.”
