Spanish MotoGP duo closing out 2025 strong as Binder finishes fifth for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.

Álex Márquez followed up his Sprint Race victory with second at Sunday’s Portuguese GP as fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta claimed a podium in third as his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Brad Binder finished in fifth. Here is all you need to know:

– Márquez, second in the 2025 overall standings, has produced an exceptional season only bettered by his older brother Marc and he was the class act on Saturday as he banked another Sprint win from Acosta.

– On Sunday, Marco Bezzecchi and Acosta both got off the line quick come race time with Márquez fighting his way up from fifth to third in the first corner then passing Acosta on the brakes on lap two.

– Even though the Italian wanted to pull clear of the field, Márquez kept him honest and he closed in over the next few laps before Bezzecchi reasserted dominance to pull clear for the race win by 2.583s.

– Márquez banked second for an astonishing 12th podium this season with young racer Acosta claiming his fifth podium of the season in third and his South African teammate Binder closing out well in fifth.

– Márquez, 29, said: “Marco, especially in some sectors, was better than us. He was super strong. I tried, but I realised he was too fast. Win yesterday and today second, so positive and we look forward.”

– Acosta, 21, said: “I was really trying, but we have to be happy as we were missing a lot of pace and traction at the beginning. Doesn’t matter how much we manage the tyres. It is difficult to battle at the beginning when we have less grip, but at the end I was quite fast.”

– Frenchman Johann Zarco finished in ninth with home hero Miguel Oliveira ending his MotoGP career at the track in 14th as Thai Somkiat Chantra and Italian Enea Bastianini ended in 17th and 18th respectively.
